I can't choose a cichlid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
not for me lol, i stock my tanks before i even get them LMAO! I mean if i got a male and a female Aqua. What is that fish in your Avatar Balton? He is AWESOME looking!

Thanks, it's a female Festae, the male is the more golden colored one below her.

Hope you have a Merrrrry X-mas!! :D

A lone female Festae could get by in a 75g I believe - I know the males would need a larger tank as they grow the width/larger then the width of a 75g.

Male Festae do not grow larger than 18 inchs... you forget there are 75 gallon tanks that are 48 1/2" x 18 1/2" x 21 3/8" and they even make smaller tanks that festae can turn around in... like 50 wides which are 36 7/8" x 19" x 19 5/8"

I have never owned a Festae, but if you google around you'll get reports of males from 16-20" from some of the better cichlid sites out there. And I know 75gs are 18" width - which is why I posted what I did.

Because a fish that big would be way too cramped in a 4' tank. It needs more space to swim around and excercise. I used to have a 15" white Midas in a 135g and it made that tank look small imo. I guess you have to see it to understand.

Ive seen a full grown Oscar, i know exactly what your talking about and ive seen a full grown Silver tipped shark cramped in a 55 gallon, so trust me, i know whatcha mean.
