Idk why i cant figure it out but it seems like the only way to disconnect the filter would be to turn it off and hold it above the tank so the water in the hoses drains and then disconnect the hoses but this cant be the only way to do it. Maybe i set it up wrong, heres a pic of mine and some valves that i think i forgot to include while setting it up, maybe i cant disconnect it correctly because i need the valves? Any help is greatly appreciated
Edit: And the reason im trying to disconnect it is to clean it dont know if that matters

never set one up before but yeah those look like valves and quick dissconnects that go inline...

Looks like you need to pull the hoseout of the tank, clean the filter and set it up right, didn't it com with instructions?

If you want to drain the unit as you lift it, make sure you do it through the return or you will backflush the contents into your tank, making a horrid mess. Just turn the filter off and take the hoses off of the tank. Then you can do whatever you want with it, just think two steps ahead so you don't get tangled up.

I just recently cleaned mine and it was a huge pain. You have to take the hoses out to keep it from draining your tank. I need to get a set of disconnect valves for mine next time.

I really wish eheim would update their dinosaur filters to include the disconnects like everyone elses does.

proven design, but having to buy the disconnects separately and then install is way outdated IMO.

they should update their classic design to include disconnect valves IMO.

They do come with disconnects. He didn't use them.

Which hose uses the smaller one and which uses the larger?
