I've brought home sunfish several times. Each time I quarantined and anchor worms became visible around day 5-7. Treated with anti-parasite meds and then introduced them to my other fish.

This happened the last time I kept some pumpkinseeds. I kept them in a quarantine tank though. They work together, but hopefully you don't get anchor worms, they're nasty

don't be so negative guys
I really don't think they was trying to be negative Jag. they are just telling the truth!!! You should never put a wild caught fish in your tank of other fish with out putting it in a quarantine tank for a few weeks first... Hopefully everything will go good for you and you won't have any problems from it but you really can kill all the rest of your fish by doing that!!!!

I suggest adding a Panther Grouper, Koi, Jellyfish, and a Penguin. The fact that all these animals come from different continents shouldn't get in the way of an interesting tank.

I kid. Actually some Sunfish can live with cichlids. Great article: http://www.oscarfish.com/article-home/fish/100-keeping-sunfish.html Not quarantining ANY new fish is bad. What hapened when the Europeans first came to the New World? The natives had no immunities to some of their bugs, and vice versa. This hobby is challenging and frustrating enough under ideal circumstances. Why go out of your way to make it more difficult?
