My friend just bought out all of the Salvini from a local Pet Supermarket. They were mislabeled as Jack Dempsey. I think they were about $1.79 each. Sometimes you can make some unexpected scores from mislabeling. I have even tried to help stores by telling them that their stock was labeled wrong, many times they don't seem to care or just think I'm mocking them. I've seen expensive fish sell for pennies just because the store didn't know what they truly had. Enjoy your JD!
Fish stores make most of their money on the supplies needed for our hobby, not the fish themselves. Most stores have one or two fish for over $50.00. The supplies for the initial setting up is where they make their fortunes!
By the way, lovely fish! Are you going to put it with other fish later on? And would like prices where I shop to be that low! I paid $8.99 for my JD which was only maybe 1 1/2".
Knifegill isn't as lucky as he is just always at the local fish stores! lol
Nice find, which tank is is living in? Did you ever repair your 125? I am clearing out a 55 for my very angry sunfish-thinking he needs a fish that can fend for itself like a Texas or another sunfish..

hahaha I love getting into arguments with Petsmart/Petco places about their stock and what it REALLY is and when ever they throw the "sir we sell the fish we know what were talking about" I'll hit em with the well, can you describe the nitrogen cycle?
