I could use some help setting up a planted aquarium

nice article wyldfya, what methods have you used for anchoring the plants. i've used the bottoms of plastic bottles, and tied plants to drift wood or slate w/ string. the plants come out of the bottles and the strings break in less than a week. i'm sure the 14" pacu dartin' around doens't help either. any suggestions, or no plants for the pacu.

For big cichlids and characins I'd just stick to well mounted plants to wood and rocks. A few plants like amazons that send HUGE root systems out will also work very well.

I bought this from aquabotanic.com

He took this picture before I bought it. Look at the Anubias flower!

any special technique for mounting them to the rocks and drift wood, as i said, i have no luck using string, open for any ideas.

I've heard fishing line works well. You can buy colored line that will blend in more than white string...

Lose the Pacu.

i couldn't get rid of him, although i just bought a 100 gal rubbermaid tub, and i'm in the process of finishing up a 50 gal. sump and a wet/dry filter. he gets no plants untill i build his big tank, but thanks for the website.
