Looks to be a scalare angel. They are one of the most common types of angels with many different color morphs. Yours seems to be a more standard wild type color. As for how to breed em that's pretty simple. Just add in a slate rock or plate into the tank and prop it up till it's near vertical, just make sure it's on the opposite end of the tank from the filter otherwise the eggs will all end up duds. You'll also want to add in a few more angels to the tank as well as they are hard to sex most of the time, that and it's generally best to have a pair form more naturally. Just make certain to remove the other angels from the pair once ya get one. I can tell just by looking at yours tho that's it's a male. That big kok on his forehead is a dead give away of that.can anyone help me I.D. this species of angle? Does anyone know anyone that breeds this type? Got it form the lfs without I.D. and not big into angles but this guys is pretty dope.

O yeah angels can get some size to em given enough time and care. Had it once at the LFS when someone brought in their last angel from their tear down tank and this angel was about as big around as a hand is and that's just the body of this thing. It's fins made it out to be about 12in tall. The lfs sold it for only $15 within 5 mins of it being dropped off.I didn't realize they got this big or thick.
So I'm looking for the biggest body angles I can get, im seeing it's the altums and there are only 2 varites that I've seen. Can you tell me the difference between the 2 species and if there are more then 2? Which would have the bigger body?O yeah angels can get some size to em given enough time and care. I believe there's only one specie of Altima but I do know that they can vary in size according to the catch location. If I'm remembering correctly the Peruvian Altima is one of the largest if not the largest. So I'm looking for the biggest body angles I can get, im seeing it's the altums and there are only 2 varites that I've seen. Found this pic on Google of a wild caught altum. Least to say these angels get massive.

Makes sense since Altums and Scalare do look somewhat similar to each other. Personally I'd go with a true Altum rather then a Scalare but finding true Altums around here isn't so easy sadly. Ik there are some angels that I would absolutely love to keep like the Altum or the Blue Pinoy Paraiba. Ya wouldn't happen to have any experience with the Blue Pinoy would ya? That one's is kind of next on my list to breed.Altums are the biggest angels. There several types of catch locations. Some have more red some more blue etc..there's orinoco, atapabo, venturi, rio negro etc. Peruvian altums are not true altums. They are scalare and don't get big like altums. In my opinion if u want altum to get big. U gotta have good water quality with lower ph.
