I've been in the hobby for many years! I have friends who have had Asian Aro's. I've always been a cichlid and saltwater hobbiest. But I just got a 10" Jardini for 20 bucks from my LHS! I know that is a great price no matter what type it is. But as I look at it I'm having trouble being about to properly I.D. the fish. I know some of you will simply tell me to post pics. I do plan on doing this in the future but I'm the type of person that wants to know how to I.D. them myself. So my question is does anyone know of a link I could visit to help me I.D. Jardini? Thanks in advance!

pics coming soon! :headbang2

this is a jardinii...

asians have 5 rows of scales, australians have 7, iirc. there is also a difference in number of scales along the lateral line, but i'm not sure of the number

edit: according to wiki, its 21-26 for asian and 32-36 for aus

This is a humbling experience! I thought that all of them that are not shaped like the silvers are Jardini! But now I see the Asian are Formosa (sp?)etc... I'm going to have to get a good book! It's clear I know even less then what I thought LOL! From the looks of things I have a Jardini. Just for my info how much would a 12"(in good shape)go for? from my understanding $20 was a good price? I will post pics this week end! Looks like I'm in the market for a book! Thanks for the help!:headbang2
