I.D hybrid

STill hard to believe I mean you did get it from thailand... What if the fish had been hybrid dempseys before hand?

Also how fertile are the fish you sold me and why half of them are midget sized and wont grow any?

Because respectable breeders would never consider using Dempsey. You ask a breeder and they will laugh at you. Its not that hard to grasp the concept that Dempseys aren't used in mainstream hybrids.

As far them not growing, if you keep groups of fish together as growouts for a long period of time without doing proper water changes then then only then only the dominant fish will grow the most. Sounds like you didn't do enough water changes to compensate with the hormones being released.

Dempeys have bad breeding traits for hybrids. Ugly mouth and facial structure, bad body shape, weak tails, only redeemable trait is the pearling. But you can find better pearling on Carpintis/Cyano which has a better mouth/facial structure, stronger tails, and body shape. Breeding in Dempsey is taking a step back not forward unless you are created Dempsey specific hybrids like the one in your first post.

Just like you would want to use Midas over Red Devil unless you want something Red Devil specific.

I read in a book their are no more pure midas cichlids all are red devil mix. ALso unlessfrom a special breeder and then most still have red devil in them.

I swear this guy HAS to be trolling! If not, that's just sad.

For flowerhorns, yes, JDs have no good traits besides spangling to offer. But who said the goal of the project was a flowerhorn(if there really even is a project). desirable traits are subjective when talking about non-flowerhorn Hybrids. I for one love huge mouths and a long body. I also love a good thick stocky bodied fish with a "good", face and mouth structure. the former body type would be considered bad on a flowerhorn, but could be awesome on another fish.

Not true, unless it was a petsmart catalog you were reading.

Lol ^^^

While most local store Midas and Red Devil are hybrid, they are still usable if you know what traits to look for.

I can't even say this guys trolling anymore. It seems the FH forum has been popping up with these "know-it-alls".. and it's getting kinda old.
