I.D. my Pleco

Absolutely beautiful PL*co you have there. I probably would have had a fit if i would have found one that cheap.

Can they eat the harder stuff like Malaysian bog wood and African rootwood?

IME, i've found that they prefer softer wood. The malaysian wood seems to work well but mopani and the other rootwood I find is too hard. You can imagine the amount of wear on the panaques teeth after months of grazing on wood that hard. (that's what she said?) I also i would guess that mopani and rootwoods like that cannot be that easy to digest, which is one of the primary reasons behind the panaques wood-eating. That is a great looking L-330.

I wish I would have found him for 8 bucks. A Panaque loves wood so keep him drift wood around. when he gets big (i think up to 1.5 - 2 feet) you may even hear him chewing on it.

Thanks everyone.

I do have some softer driftwood maybe 10-15lbs. (the kind with the slate rock screwed in on the bottom.)

I have about 50lbs of the harder stuff in there.

I actually have a piece of soft wood that was close to around 3 feet long and it was eaten on for the last 12 year and now it is about 10 inches long.

Yup, but obviously are more designed to take the softer stuff that occurs in their natural habitat. Lots of veggies with roughage in is a good diet for these guys.

My royal prefers to chew on the back of my Penguin HOB filter, despite having mopani and malasian:irked:

My clown seems to prefer the mopani.

I just had to cleaned my pants after reading $8.00.

Lovely score.
