I.D. Please. . . O. Lithobates???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He could still be young, new to the tank, or no females present. The colors are hard to call at this point without better pics.

you know what I was just looking at my guy (Mara Rock) to compare a little closer, and there not the same. Again the lateral stripes a to straight.

Well I unfortunately can't post any pics right now but I do have some good ones; they just aren't uploaded yet. I'll do it tomorrow though. So do you guys think hybrid is out of the question?

Unfortunately, he's not looking so good right now. There's been a coup and the OB peacock is the new (super aggressive I might add) ruler of the tank, so the fish in question's fins are not in the best condition at the moment. Hopefully the OB will calm down soon so the fish's fins can heal.

For those who asked, the fish in question is about 4-5" and he's been in the tank since it was set up in January. I bought him for $20 labeled as a select color peacock.

What about mylochromis lateristriga? Sorry, no cut and paste on my ipod touch. It definitely looks more like a maturing male than a full-size adult though

is this what you think it could be? I dont really see the resemblence so much... look forward to seeing more pics though!
sorry to hear about the aggression how many fish are in the tank? how big is the tank?

what about an Aulonacara Maylandi? could be something similar? well actually
scratch that sorry now that I had a better look it def doesn't look like this, we'll just have to wait to see better pictures...

That's the one I'm talking about. It looked more like it in other pics though.

The tank is a 4 ft 90 gal. I'm not sure but I think there's around 28 fish (22 cichlids, 5 or 6 synos)

Hey green earth, I think it's def. more red than yellow on the edges of the fins. It almost looks like the fish in muske's avatar. Where's he when you need him?

Defiantly not, they have a really wedged head and colors don't match.

Yeah, He has a red crest and Aulonacara Maylandi is a yellow crest plus he has too much blue in his body.

Its a small pic but I think his avatar pic is a lithobate.

He's getting big. The pics are older, I take it. Has he kepted the color from the pics or has he changed?

Posts pics when ever you can , Im accually posting this from my iPhone LOL. My pc is down so I can't post pics either.

He has changed his color much since those pics were taken. His color is, however more vivid and defined in person rather than in those pics
