thanks for your help guys. I'm sorry I cant manage to get better pics of the guy...hes just so small and moves around a lot lol. anyway, ill try to take some pictures of him in a month or two when hes a bit bigger and maybe you guys will be able to know for sure. thanks again for the help. at least we found out it wasnt a midas anyway lol
 
I have to agree, it is hard to tell from your pics, but if it is a motag, then you will end up with one nice looking fish. Motags are my fav. of all the guapotes.
 
You'll know for sure as it matures. As it grows the colors should really start to come out. I hope you got what you wanted, I know I would love to have a Mota!

And guys, of course it looks like a jag or a dovii or an umbee. It could even be a parachromis Friedrichstali. They're all guapotes!
