I don't know why it's loading funny either, here's the new batch rotated and cropped for you though. To get a better pic you might want to overlight the tank while taking pictures and set your ISO lower, it will come out cleaer that way. If you have the option for infrared and autofocus that would help too.

No problem, I edit a ton of photos. I wish I had some money to invest in camera equipment for fish, it can be a pita to learn what your camera setting need to be as different cameras vary a bit. Some of my best fish pics have come form an old 1998 Sony Mavica that uses a 3.5 inch floppy disk! It's not high res but that camera can focus really well and has good shutter speed. My new camera is great for night photography (ise it a lot for that) but oddly enough I'm still getting used to finding the setting for speed and higher light for fish still... more practice needed I guess.

hmm, my family is big onto pictures, just not me lol. I take them through a ipod touch lol. If it is back a bit it has beautiful pictures, but when you try to get close its ugly. You can go through my other threads about my new 55 gallon, nice pics there. but as for your 1998, whatever works i would use haha!!! and i guess some pics of my 55 are from my computer, you can tell a difference between computer and ipod.

It's really hard to tell with those photos. I say give it a day or two, and try to get a better photo once it gets all settled in.

I think it needs some time to settle in a bit too, but from what I am seeing I does appear to be some type of amph. Someone mentioned earlier it could be an amphilophus hogaboomorum, which is possible form these photos. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=115

I'd lean towards something more common, like a midas or red devil that isn't big enough to fade yet. From the photo I'm guessing this fish is 2-3 inches since I can see the Emperor 400 filter intake, is that right? If I go to my local Petsmart I can find a bunch of unfaded babies and a few starting to fade usually.

Check out the barred midas - http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=2322

My guess is once it hits about 4 inches it will begin to fade to orange or yellow if not before then.

Yes it is the Emperor 400, and i would be willing to bet on your barred midas or amphlophus, but we will give it awhile and see!!!
