From what I can tell, most of it comes down to personality. Mine will take a chunk out of small bottom dwelling fish, Loaches, Corys, Ottos, etc. but he leaves everything else alone. I've had a fire eel in with him for 8 months now and a juvenile GT for 2. The GT has since been removed for trying to pick on the Fronts. I think a good part of the bad rep a Mbu gets is a result of how many other puffers must be kept in species tanks. Of course, the fact that one bite from a Mbu will end the life of most fish out there can't help. I'm a little worried, yes, but confident and prepared for the worst.

I'm boiling some river rocks as we speak to give a sense of security. I might throw in some hornwort to hold them over on plants. My Mbu absolutley loves feeder crabs, snails, and mussels. Hard shells are great for breacking down teeth.
