do you think the puffer will terrorize the frontosa?

I was wondering when someone would ask that. I've done a bit of research and found that many people have Mbu community tanks. From what I can tell, most of it comes down to personality. Mine will take a chunk out of small bottom dwelling fish, Loaches, Corys, Ottos, etc. but he leaves everything else alone. I've had a fire eel in with him for 8 months now and a juvenile GT for 2. The GT has since been removed for trying to pick on the Fronts. I think a good part of the bad rep a Mbu gets is a result of how many other puffers must be kept in species tanks. Of course, the fact that one bite from a Mbu will end the life of most fish out there can't help. I'm a little worried, yes, but confident and prepared for the worst.

It is indeed a FW puffer. He was my first fish so I'm very protective of him.

So i quess he is the fresh water puffer or later on does he need to go into brackish.. do u have some hiding places for the fronts.. like plastic thick plants so they can get away.. it is a little nerve wracking i am sure.. they are all awesome and i would not want to lose any of them..I put my baby black belt in with older cichlids l am worried too..but i did add alot of hiding places. i just read about fresh water puffer tonight..they said they love snails and they are pretty peaceful except for slow moving fish ..they have very sharp teeth {puffers} and sometimes u have to file them down because they grow too long}

Mbus stay fresh. Many so called FW puffers do switch tp brackish and in some cases salt as they age, but the Mbu is a true fw fish. I'm boiling some river rocks as we speak to give a sense of security. I might throw in some hornwort to hold them over on plants. My Mbu absolutley loves feeder crabs, snails, and mussels. Hard shells are great for breacking down teeth.
