i did a mistake

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would leave it open..in few months i believe you will want to continue this thread..

+1 big time.... or in a week... but, unfortunately, the OP has the right to request the thread is locked. It's up to Cliff and other mods.

Jreeper, why are you so insistent? I understand how a large part of this thread is very unpleasant to you. But I, for one, and I am sure any others, are learning from this thread and I am thankful to you for that. I've never had paroons that large and I learn every time people post on them, which is rather rare. We try to help you our best (all in their own ways, of course). Why not return the favor and come back with updates, info, pics, etc.? And at the end, hopefully, let us know where these fish will end up?

the bigger the better ... i get alot of insults it enough for me you can let the topic open but plz just don't replay !! the paroons isn't rare here !! in every fish store you can find them they like goldfish here you can find them in every sizes .. really cool fish !! ... and i here the calaris cat fish is rare in usa also .. but here its common too

the problem is i don't have alot of spare time i'm studing so i can't make updates all i can say they are in good health now and eating good !!

I will leave it open for now and you are more than welcome to come back and update. IMO your current problem is over, but you have many more waiting in the future with this species. I wish you luck and hope to hear of success finding them a new home in the future.

If you and all had known all the errors I've made, I'd deserve countless insults. Just ignore those whose comments you find unhelpful and those who don't read the thread and try to replay...

It's sad to hear that paroons are so widely available in Jordan. Really, 1 in 10,000,000 fish hobbyists is half-capable to give them the right home and care.

IME, I've only seen them in Toronto, Canada, never in US either. Many report the same thing.

Some say they are too easily confused with the heavily protected Giant Mekong Catfish by the border officers and are mostly/too often not let through/confiscated. So exporters and importers stopped trying to bring them to the USA. This story is a bit weak/hard to believe IMHO but IDK any better.

Not calaris... but the catfishes of the genus Clarias are federally banned in the US as well as the whole family of Clariidae, so no one can have them with a few exceptions.

You can update once a year, or once a quarter, month, week, etc. It's your thread and your hobby.

Because it is a highly apt, agile, strong, prolific, aggressive, adaptable, resourceful, one could almost say sly survivalist and competitor. It ruins eco-system when it escapes into the wild where it can survive (the reason why they are not banned in Canada). Same with all the Channa species (snakeheads) banned in the USA. Anyhow, we need to keep the thread on topic, which is paroons.

Has anyone looked at the links posted for testers? Those Hanna testers would be pretty handy if they are any good!

Electronic testers are inaccurate at best.they require human calibration that requires basal solutions at precise temps to do so.

Liquid tests are not passed by human error or temperature.

(E.g., tell well affect ph.. a ph7 solution at 25 degrees well be ph8 at 29 degrees...Same is true for all other readings...)

Personally I would never trust an electronic reader as far add I could throw it.

I have had a personal experience with ph testers, the electronic said I had ph 8, liquid said,7,I used neutral regulator to convert to a chemically exactly ph 7, calibrated the electronic tester to 7, tested with both liquid and electronic on a hot day, liquid said 7 electronic said 8.2.

I think with ammonia, nitrate and nitrite they understate the value, their telling you that things can be safe when they actually aren't!
