I hate to net fish. They hate it too.
Unless the bagwater is foul:
I put a quart of QT tank water in a small opaque plastic bin and dump the new fish in with his bagwater.
As soon as he settles I put in another cup of tankwater and repeat every 10 mins.
I dilute his bag water 10x over about 90 mins.
Then I dump his binwater, and catch the fish from sliding out as required.
I slip the fish into the QT tank.
If the bagwater is foul smelling I dump the bagwater immediately and slip the fish directly into the QT.
