I just recently purchased several juvenile Cichlids for a community tank and ended up with an extra fish that i never payed for,a Flowerhorn.
I have one of each:

Dempsey
Salvini
GT
Firemouth
Convict
And several giant danios.
I've had these community tanks before and all worked well but now have this Flowerhorn and wondering what do do with him.
Surprisingly he's the most passive fish in the tank but after some research i have to believe this could change.
Anyone have experience with this fish, looks like a young Festae with red starting to appear, nice looking fish.

They have the potential to be very aggressive. What size tank are all these fish in?

i have 3 FHs in 2 different south american/central american tanks..... i have most of the fish you listed minus the dino's....i also have jelly bean parrots, and young severum....they all get along great... at this time my flowerhorns are almost 6"...its getting time for a new tank...but i never had a problem with agression....oh and by the way i have 2 types of flowerhorns.... they get along fine with other cichlids most of the time.....they do however fight with new flowerhorns for a while but in my case everyone makes it out just fine... :-)

I'd also like to know what size tank. if the flowerhorn survives to maturity it will most likely wind up taking over the tank and, unless the tank is very large, the FH could easily start killing off tankmates.

none of the fish you currently keep can hold their own with a full grown, adult male FH.

i have 2 FHs. one in a comm tank, shes about 6" now.
then i have my male that at 3" killed everything in my tank including a striped raphael 8" and a 2ft plec....hes now in his own tank lol.
my advice would be to keep a close eye on him and as soon as he starts showing agression move him.

Sorry,forgot to mention tank size.Its a 135gal.

I talked to the owner of the fish store and he simply said bring him back at anytime,at any size.

Keep him and he'll end up your favorite fish :-) I LOVE their personalities. They're every bit as personable and 'pet-like' as Oscars.

should be ok the GT can be aggresive too

You could just wait and see but it all depends. Do you like dead fish?

I'll remove him well before that happens.

As it stands he has shown absolutely no sign of aggression but eats like an alligator.
