The term for lungfish 'sleep' cycles is called Estivation. During a LF cocoon phase, their body metabolism can lower to 1% of normal.

I love lungs, i don't own one at the mo, Their too expensive for me and at the age of 14 can't really afford one, but when i'm older they'd be one of the first fish on my list. At a zoo called chester zoo i've been too, there a huge tank with about 8 lungs in. Super cool.

First of all - they are really not "worth good money" - They are "worth good owners." In my opinion. What I mean is that I think it takes somebody who really understands what it means to have a lungfish, to appreciate having one. In other words, not everyone likes the fact they are so .. let's just say they don't do very much, but they definitely have awesome (or horrid!) personalities and they interact with people. They usually are not very expensive. It all depends on demand, not supply.
As for letting them dry out - I did read about an experiment where this was done, and most of the fish did die, and apparently even in nature this is the case. (Read: Kamongo)
For those of you interested in the evolutionary aspect of being a survivor, that book is a very interesting read if you can bear with it.
And oh yeah, they blow my hair way back. LOL

I don't have a lung fish, but there is one @ my LFS, what is so great about them, i always see him on the bottom same spot everytime...the owner said i should get one and im like why to watch him slowly die. There kinda scary looking, i told him he needs to stock arowan but hes like no one wants them, they want lung fish i laughed havnt been in there in like 2 months...i wonder if he has any arowana geuss i should go and look hehe

what's so great about them?

they're good at doing nothing. and i like that.
compared to a lungfish at the bottom of a tank, your more likely to watch a goldfish in a bowl die.
