I agree with the rest. Check parameters. Temp? Tank size? Hiding places? Are there factors outside the tank? (dog, cat, lots of quick movement)

ive been testing the water, everything is fine. and with the one jd that was left, he turned almost all black, and as soon as i put the two new jd's into the tank, he went back to normal colors.
the tank is cobers, it just has the regaler plastic hoods with the lights, but on the one side i popped out the pre cut hole for the heater, i usually keep that hole covered, but the night before i was rearranging the tank a lil, and flipped over the background, i have places for them to hid, and as soon as the snow melts here, im going to the creek to get some stones for more hiding places. and with the cycling , when i had 1 wolf fish, i always keep the feeders in the same tank with him, so not only did i have just 1 wolf fish, there would also be 20-30 feeders with him.
Saying your water parameters are fine doesnt make it so. What are the exact levels? For all you know, you could think that 2ppm ammonia, 1ppm Nitrite and 70ppm nitrate is ok.
my ph is between 6.8 and 7.0, nitrite is .5, nitrate is around 20, from what ive read and sen everything is fine, but i think the nitrite level is a bit high.
All your levels are great except for nitrite. I think that it may be from a small overfeeding session that caused a spike in the levels. If you were to test 1 day later, you may find that there are no traces of nitrite.
i only feed twice a day, in the morning i fed them either tropical crumbs or bio blend. and at night i drop one frozen bloodworm cube in. maybe im feeding to much flake and pellet foods in the am.
sorry, i have nothing to add except that your fish is probably fine. the other one probably saw an opportunity to get out into a larger body of water only to find there was no water there, lol.
