Why are you using distilled water? Is the store also using distilled water for their bettas? If not, how did you acclimate the fish to distilled water? In general, you have NO reason to use distilled water. Tap water is fine assuming there is no issue using that albeit no heavy metals, no high ammonia, nitrite or nitrate or any contaminants.
I feel silly asking this-but can anyone help me save my betta?

Yeah, the distilled water is a concern. Also water temps and the fact the fish is in a small bowl. I bet you put it in a heated 10 gallon tank, treated/aged tap water and lots of plants/hiding places and the fish will swim around more.
