Just use the buckets. I did a 60% WC on my 100g today with 5' of 1.5'' hose and 4 5 gal buckets and was done in 15 minutes. And I did curls with the full buckets as I walked them to the drain like a real man should....

I havent used the sink adapter in years.I have 5 pythons though and often use them all at once.:nilly: Great tool!wouldnt go back to buckets ever.
If you are just going to use a hose get one from the rv section at walmart(or hardware store) that is safe for drinking water, many garden hoses are not.

I hate buckets, I used them once on my 220 and said forget this. I always fill using a garden hose.

Also no way you can convenience me a python is worth 50 bucks. Buy a garden hose for like 15 bucks, and if you have to a sink adapter for another 5 or 10 bucks. Half the price and does the same thing. Hook it to you since or outdoor hose turn on the water, once the water flows into the tank unhook the hose and it will now siphon out of the tank.

IMHO telling people to buy a python is like saying Buy a gucci coat over a walmart coat.

The venturi adapter that creates the suction is the same thing that comes with water bed repair kits. much cheaper if you ever brake the python one

I built my own version of the python for dirt cheap, got it all from home depot, walmart didnt have the sink adapter. Regardless it was still cheap. I did find the Lee's ones were cheaper to buy but they break easier, i've gone through a few of them.

I built my own as well. The thing is, running 50' of hose with my homemade one still wasn't giving me the suction like I wanted. I would constantly have to pick the vacuum up and turn it upside down to get the big chunks of poop to go through.

So I paid $60 for a 50' python to see if it made a difference - it did. I don't know how their's is different than the one I made, but it sucks poo like no other. Big fish make big poos.

I also never had luck with just running the hose out the window/door. I could never get enough suction. If you ask me, the python was worth every penny.

Don't follow this advice. You could harm yourself and your neighbors.

but in the past the biggest tank I've had is a 30g, so I just used buckets to fill it up. But I'm not using buckets to fill a 55/75g tank.

I've heard about this python thing, and I was wondering, what is it and how does it work? Can I just get it at my LFS or at petSmart?

I bet you look stupid too... haha.

You should look into the aqueon water changer too.... same as the python but slightly cheaper.
