I FINALLY got my Niger Catfish!

After my 2 year search for an Oxydoras Niger my hookup at the LFS got me one. He is about 5 to 6 inches long and seems pretty sturdy, just a little thin around the gills in my opinion, but that wont last long I will fatten him up quickly. I just had to share my excitement with my fellow MFKers! Sorry the pics are fuzzy took em with my cell phone.

Nice pick up! I've had one for about three months now and he's gone from about three inches to eight or so and inceasing quickly. Pretty good growth rate.

I think it's a very handsome specie of catfish, and they look great when they flare all their fins out. And you've got to love those lateral "blades" as my grandson likes to call them.
I've recently been training the fish to come to the surface and take shrimp from my fingers - it's fun to interact a bit with it.

This is a great fish to keep and I can't wait 'til he's big enough to go in the large indoor "pond" I'll be putting together...
