I Found a Baby Ray!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If he doesn't start eating too soon, try 1.5 lbs. of salt (or 3 lbs. per gallon), upping the temperature a little, darkness and if it gets bad enough, uncoated Vitamin B1 has worked for us.

I'm glad to hear he is safe. Can't wait to see some pictures of your new little water monkey. :)

Right on. Then, yeah. I would try that.

Okay, I'll wait and see what happens for a few more days. I am sure they are still a little stressed from being caught and moved to a new tank. I will continue to put black worms in with them so that they are available when they are ready to eat. As they are still so young, I am reluctant to change the water parameters too quickly. But I don't want them to starve either. Geez, I'm starting to stress out over these little guys! Thanks for the advice everyone, it is much appreciated.

Haha, yeah. They're like little water dogs. Keep us updated!

keep doing water changes.... dont not do them out of fear of water params....

I will keep doing water changes every second day, just like for the big rays. I am just reluctant to add salt and play with the temperature of the tank when they are only a few days old. I'll wait a few more before adding a little salt (if needed). Your definitely right about keeping the water as clean as possible and I will continue with the water changes.

as long as they are not breathing heavy i wouldnt wworry on salt...a small tonic treatment wont hurt.. do about a 1/4 pound in that 50... and as far as temp increasing it wont cause any problems either...
