I fished on the Colombian river over night for squaw (ch sp) fish. do you know if they still buy squaw fish up there eddie? I think you catch a whole bunch and they buy them for like $3 each. and you get a $100 if you caught the biggest fish that week

the sturgeon there would jump out of the water. it was cool

The squawfish is also called the northern Pike minnow, they put a bounty on them in most of Washington State. They devour trout and salmon eggs and gorge on fry and fingerings. We get 3 bucks each on my Lake for them.

Down in Arizona in the Colorado River they are protected, have to return them alive.

I went to a hatchery while I was there. the display pond was pretty dope. it had stairs that went underground so you can walk down and see the display from the side like a tank. the trout they had with the sturgeons were huge too, the size of your calves I would say

and I also went hiking up that waterfall. either the trail or the waterfall had a native American name. was named after a female native. i'm sure you know what i'm talking about

I think you're referring to multnomah fall but yup, that area is sturgeon heaven. Thats the best sturgeon tank around with the viewing glass. I believe thats like a 70 year old sturgeon, been on display since I was a kid

Btw, i once rolled up in this area we're talking about and there was a KKK meeting going on! I **** my drawls

missed opportunity to do a clayton bigsby impersonation imo

I think you're right about the name of the falls. and that was a huge sturgeon. there was a couple of them but I remember one being massive

and thanks for the info diesel, I didn't know squaw fish did that

yea that's the place. I also took a picture on that bridge.

have no idea where the pics are now. if I ever come across them i'll post it

Where did you find it (which state)?

Hard to tell from the photos, but how long do you think it was? Are you near the Hudson River? If it is still there you might want to contact the NY DEC. They probably aren't interested in a long-dead sturgeon, but it may be worth their while to recover it and scan it for a PIT tag.

That crossed my mind. I did find this animal very close to the Hudson, in fact, the Statue of Liberty and NYC skyline are visible from part of the bike path I was walking down when I found it.

I posted the pictures on a local fishing forum. I'll ask what they think about reporting it, and to whom.
