I just finished doing a water change and when I finished I put my filter socks back in the tank. Once I finished I was closing the doors on the stand when something caught my eye. I couldn't believe it but in the input chamber of my wet/dry there was a fish. It was the trimac that came up missing about a week ago.
When I realized it was missing I searched inside the tank, on the floor around the tank, and in the sump. I couldn't find it anywhere so I assumed that he had been a late dinner for some of the other cichlids.
The only thing that I can come up with is that he has been hanging out in the overflows of the tank. I'm thinking that after the water change he was caught by suprise and went through the down pipe into the sump. I removed the filter socks and put a net in the sump where he pretty much swam straight into it. I took him to the main tank and he just swam away like nothing had ever happened.
What is suprising is that he has actually put on quite a bit of mass in the last week. He doesn't have one mark on him, he even looks less stressed than he has since I received him two weeks ago. As soon as I get an opportunity I'll get some pictures of him.
