I give up! Armatus went NILLY.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I believe John is saying that feeding the whole fish is better cause it provides more nutrients from all parts of the fish.

Could be but that sounds a little different than saying that the tilapia FILLETS are not good to feed to armatus.

So sorry bro what a huge loss.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Thanks. The only way to deal with a loss is add more fish so I moved my widebars, albino adonis and masheers to the big tanks. I suspect I may lose a masheer or 2 at the hands of the rays but I am tired of growing them out so they need to be fast and smart if they want to stay alive. Tired of finding tankmates for the rays. Eventually I think it will just be my black arowana and rays in one tank and my Asian RTG arowana and rays in the other tank. Scrap everything else in between or let the rays do that for me as they already are doing a good job at it. That's 2 big fish dead in a week.

Sorry for your loss bro. What I've from experience is that if you house your payara with silver dollars (a lot of them) or any other fast moving fish, they tend to become less skittish over time. I have 8 scombies in a 240 and I had'em by themselves at first. And every time they sensed vibration in the water (say tapping the glass or closing the door hard) they would freak out, in fact, one of my scombies has a blind eye cause he ran into the drift wood FAST when I tapped on the glass! Then I decided to add about 12 silver dollars in there with them (amongst some other fish). It has been about 2 months and they have become extremely relaxed now. In fact, I can tap the acrylic all I want and them don't seem to get bothered by it one bit.
