I give up on Grammodes!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i got mine from rapps and it is doin fine, wicked aggro, eats , gorgeous fish...try hard water

You say your water params are fine, but what are they? ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, hardness?

Also, whats your temp and oxygen situation? filtration?

My prob with Grammodes is their slow growth. My 1st one was almost a yr old and about 4" when Katrina hit, bought @ 1". Next one just didnt keep up with everyone else and got bullied to death.

I'm tempted to try again as a shop has some in. I want to get a nice sized one too...

30g isnt good for 8 together but the last 2 should be good.

I fed guppies, rosies, shrimps (live/raw), frozen anything and Spectrum TherA pellets.

Yes but that has to do mostly with africans, grammodes can tolerate high protien its in their natural diets.

The last two are still with me and I'm hoping they'll pull through. Main diet is NLS 1mm and 3 mm cichlasoma formula pellets (34% and 38% protein) and NLS flakes(49% protein I believe). Several times a week they get treated to bloodworms or brine/mysis shrimp.

I do a 10 gallon water change twice a week. Filtration is a Marineland Emperor280 biofilter and a Marineland powerhead/spongefilter for some added water current.

The last time I tried Grammodes, they grew sooo slow it was like the space time continuum had stopped. hahahahha

I feed my baby grammodes nothing but high protein stuff with no trouble. I have raised a few to about 2-3 inches but now I'm in it for the duration. I have 10 I'm raising now and they seem to be growing. I have them in a 55 gallon tank and I do two, 50% water changes each week.

I would drop the temp a couple degrees.82 is a little high i think
