I got 3 new 3" Texas Cichlids....Question about their Fin/Tail shape ?

If you're serious about a cyano "breeding project" why not do it right and get some wild ones from Texas? A breeding project from inbred stock that you don't know the geneology on doesn't make much sense to me.


I'm not sure what you've been told but the fish aren't exactly jumpin' out of the water here. It's hard to find wild ones except for on the border, and if you've gone that far you might as well hop-scotch on down to Mexico. Despite them being called 'Texas' cichlids they are really more of a mexican and central american fish.
 
If you leave the country then you have a crap load of paperwork and permits to get and you have to deal with customs and F and W before you can transport live fish across the border. Pain in the ass.

They're in Texas, there are people in Texas who catch them regulary, if the poster really wants some breeding program quality cyano there are people that can catch and ship. It just takes some time to find the right person. This isn't the best time of year either. Needs to warm up.
