Last night I got a call from my LFS telling me they got a 12" Banded Knifefish traded in and the manager knows I've been wanting one of the striped knives he called me. The manager said he was a greedy eater so I went up there and apparently he had darkened up to an almost black overnight well I brought him home and in the last hour he has lightened up a little so I can see his stripes a little. He was traded in because the previous owners bichir had taken of the tip of his tail but otherwise he looks to be in good shape so for the glare I'll get better pics tonight around feeding time

Nice pickup! I'm currently after one myself so I look forward to hearing about your experiences :)

I was really wanting a zebra or tiger knife because they are smaller with less aggression but this one came up first however I may trade him in if a tiger or zebra becomes available assuming I don't get too attached to him but he is super cool

well he has been named Capone because t kinda looks like carapo and he lives up to the name because he is aggressive towards just about everything that gets near his hideout so today I finished setting up the 55 gallon and moved him down there with a mature filter unfortunately it's a little bright so I need to get some frogbit but I took some pictures of him before I put his hideout in it or the plants he is still real dark almost black but I hope with him being by himself he will not be as stressed out

Interesting knife for sure. does frogbit tend to pull out shy knives?

I'm probably getting some. I am going 'fully african' on my 70 but I need to dim the lights

Good that he's eating ;)

yeah this is the 2nd time ive seen him eat the 1st time i had to pull his hide out of the tank so he would swim around and find it that time if was beefheart, myriss shrimp, and bloodworms since I ws trying to figure out what he liked but with the earthworms i was able to dangle it in front of his hide and he took it

well today I bought 20x 1" prawns to clean up the tank after he eats well he ate them lol in just a couple hours there is 1 left
