You should probably just give me the extra mula!!!! Then I can get me something purdy!

Really I don't know much about either fish, but the snook seem like they could be pretty interesting/entertaining to have ..

I really love Ornatum but thinking back the first time I tried to pair up Festae, how many I had to go thru before I got a match...wow. I don't really want to deal with that right now, especially with how expensive Ornatum are. I would have to divide the tank and I hate divided tanks. The snook route may be better for me. My lfs used to have a pair of big snooks in their show-tank and I was in love with them.

Women...you're all the same.

As stunning as these cf. ornatums are, I find it hard to argue with a large tank with several green snooks. The pattern on them is just amazing. But then I usually prefer pattern over color so maybe I'm biased.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. Plus you are picking some of the less common fish which I think is always a plus.

More and more I'm leaning toward the snooks. I was going to order from Rapps but he's not shipping from June 24-July 1st so I would have a little time to think about it. It looks like Jon the Fish Junky has some in stock too so I PM'd him how to go about the payment and shipping...no answer back yet. I'm afraid if I have to wait for Jeff to come back I may end up ordering the Ornatum on a whim.

Does anyone know of another respectable vendor who has Ornatum or Green Snooks in stock???? Thanks.

Get the snooks and get them from Ira! He has a lot of them at 5-6"+. I got mine out of this group at two inches and his are now a solid inch bigger than mine. He did a hell of a job growing them out and they look great!

I agree with this statment bro, I love the colors and personality of my Ornatums too but ive been doing alot of research and found that Ornatums seem harder to pair and spawn than festae and everyone knows that festae can be very challenging for most people. and if you do want to be successful with them you will end up having to use dividers and prolly for most of their lives:( George had his for a year or so before they decided to spawn and from my understanding he didnt do anything special to make it happen just normal breeding techniques; WC's, great diet etc. I would say to get ornatums just so i can get your extra female... LOL but i could be waiting a long time;) and i know you dont care for divided tanks and like active set ups so i will vote for the snooks bro:) and Ira does have larger snooks that are already starting to pair and color up. also Dan ye Jennings has Ornatums around the same size and price you mentioned earlier and i believe she may have snooks as well:) either way i know you'll be happy with your decision and your fish will be happier;)

Thanks everyone for your replies and comments.

I just talked to Ira about getting a group of snooks. I really appreciated the time he took on the phone with me, seems like a top notch vendor for sure. Before talking with him I didn't know that snook were schooling cichlids, that's awesome. I'm just waiting on his PM for shipping prices and I'm going to paypal him back. Man I'm excited!! :)
