I was just given an 84gallon tank by a brother of a friend of mine, who knows I keep various kinds of fish and have a lot of tanks. He was moving and couldnt take the tank with him. So I'm thinking... FREE TANK.. of COURSE I'll take it.. how could he POSSIBLY have more fish in there than *I* have tank space for...??? Oh yeah.. hahaha.
He brought the tank over and helped me set it up, but when I saw the fish in the tub he brought over, well.. all I can say is, well... wow.
In fact, let me just list them, and it should speak for itself. Now, mind you, I didn't really clean the tank because I was worried about so many fish in such a small container, so the water is really murky and I'm not sure I have them all down here, and sizes are approximate.. but here goes:
1- 12" oscar
1- 12" male red devil
1- 10" female red devil
2- 12-14" pacus (One I'm pretty sure is a red belly, the larger might be a black but I'm far from sure)
3- 4-6" red devils (offspring)
1- 3" jewel
1- 4" jack dempsey
1- 3" jellybean parrot
3-5 adult convicts
2- 12"+ common plecos
Oh, and it gets better... for filtration I have part of an undergravel filter, with one powerjet and two penguin HOB 330s.
Now, there may be more fish I can't see yet, I already fed 20 or so convict babies to my stingrays, and put the jellybean in with my frontosa, but I really don't have the extra tank space for the rest of these guys. My other tanks aren't compatible with any of these other fish, understocked or no, and my 900 gallon tank isn't going to be up and running for another few months or so. Even if it was.. I really don't want to stock it with a couple of pacus.
I'm definately keeping the large red devil pair, as the male is pretty darn impressive, and I might keep the oscar, as the fish that started me in this hobby was an oscar, so I have a soft spot for them and a few empty 55gallons I might let him claim one of, but the rest are all up for grabs (ESPECIALLY THE PACUS!!).
I'm in the Las Vegas, NV area. Pick up only. I don't have any experience shipping, and these guys are all pretty big. Shoot me an email, zekni@yahoo.com.
In the meanwhile, anyone have any idea what to do with the pacus if no one wants them? I already called around to some fish shops, and they don't want ones this big.
Wow.. Im sitting on my bed watching everyone crammed into one corner as the red devils lip lock and wrestle around the rest of the tank. I hope they aren't about to breed.
