How long has you tank beeen running? To me it sounds as if your tank is not cycled because you stated that you have ammonia and no nitrates.

i no its weird its been runnig for a year and never had a problem

running for a year... you are sure you have no nitrates, but have ammonia. Is there a chance you did a W/C without threating the water for chlorine. Tihs could've destroyed some of your beneficial bacteria colony.

Unless your tank is heavily planted, and even then you should have nitates.

You have more then just a medium bio load, 11 large fish is a heavy bioload. It may be that your filters can no longer keep up with your ever growing bioload.

I'd recheck your nitrate readings, increase your water changes, add more filtration and reduce the stock.

Yeah, that doesn't make any sense.
If you're showing elevated ammonia that means your bacterial colony isn't keeping up, what is your filtration?

If you have enough bioload that you have elevated ammonia but no nitrites you should also have elevated nitrates.

Are you sure you did the nitrate test correctly? You shook the bottle and vile long enough, etc.?

the only thing i have done is the last water change i stripped one my canisters down but cleaned it in tank water cuz its wasn't good and still ain't thats it my filters not keeping up
