Well my son and I were at the local lfs and we found this really cute red ear slider turtle. He really wanted it. So after much thought we bought him and brought him home. He is so happy in his new home. He was only $14. I thought that was a good price. I know how to take care of him but any more info on these turtles would be appreciated.
Thanks

all i can tell you is they get really big off the top of my head i have seen two in my life that pushed about 16-20" in shell length(dont know if thats even full grown without doing my own research on them yet.). they eat anything (feeders anacahris lettuce shrimp dried shrimp frozen shrimp krill their own young etc) keeping them on a varied diet of meaty and veggies is the best way. the bigger your enclosure the better. UV light as long as the sun is up give them somewhere to bask and swim. And you RES will be a champ lookin bloke in no time.:headbang2

OMG you truly are a retard.

Here I go.

They live 40+ years.

Need a tank 75 gallons for males, 100 for Females

Do not feed them feeder fish. Feed them 50/50 pelletes/naturel food

Males will get 6-7 inches long, Females will get 12 inches long.

They do not stay green but will turn dark grey/black.

Not so cute when this animal tries and takes off your finger.

You can never handle this animal because being out of water agianst its will is very stressfull.

You need proper lighting and heating, for proper growth and all around health.

Bite me.

Ok, who's the retard, me or the one who posted before you? Am I retarted for getting a red ear slider turtle, or the info that other person gave me?
I know they dont get 20" long. I pretty much just brushed that advice off.

I thought so!!! Just thought I would make sure.
Thanks guys

Both oh you are retards. Buying an animal because its cute and thinking it will get 20 inches long.

I really resent that remark. You have no right to come down on me because I bought the turtle because he was cute. He is cute. And I ALSO KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEM. JUST ASKING FOR A LITTLE MORE INPUT IS ALL.
