get a pond filter with UV :nilly:

easier said than done. let me just state that this pond is located for an apartment building. I'm sure they can afford it. But how to get the money for it is beyond me. Like i said i don't think this was originaly made to be a fish pond.

it was just a pond with a waterfall. then someone put in a gold fish. and next thing i know they put koi in it and guppies.

later if found out my neighbor was in charge of taking care of the fish.

I'm goin to talk to her aobut getting to the board of directors to invest in a filter.

How big should the fliter be?

and is it possible to use the current pump to power it?

I apologize, I assumed it was owned by your neighbor. It might be a tough battle to get funding in that case. Maybe suggest that they terminate the contract with the cleaners in favor of having the tenants (your neighbor) being responsible for cleaning it.... its a long shot but might work. If you can get some money a good pond filter is a good bet. I dont know that much about them, but it doesnt need to turn the water over a ridiculous amount like you would in an aquarium. Laguna makes pressurized pond filters with UV for a reasonable price, check your pm

well i'm goin to try to have her get the money for the fliter. she's on the board of memebers. and each unit pays about 400 in maintainace fees. and the cleaners are the inhouse staff that take care of the grounds. it includes the plants, pool, bbq pits all 6 of em. the putting green, car park/ garage. ect.

so i think they should have the money. its about convicing them to spend it on this thats hard.

More waterlilies or any floating plants to help block out the sun would help the algea problem. Plus the plants will take nutrients the algea needs to grow.

There you go! fishyz has the cheapest idea...

Cover the pond completely (to block-out all light) for 3-4 days to kill most of the algae before adding the salt.

Be careful of algae removers as some will kill plants too.
