i got some f1 true festae today,im over the moon, now they are just under 1 inch so they are still fry,im looking for tips in growing them on,they are in a 125g,on there own,how much water should i change and how often, how many feeds per day ect,,thanks

Sweet! How many did you get? It would be best to feed them smaller amounts 3-5 times a day.

hey i posted on your other thread but you didnt put tank size in that one so yeah they should do great in that tank, and yes you need to feed them 3-5 times a day when they are that little to get them to grow quickly, they will do ok on less feedings than that but its good to aim for several small feedings a day, and in that size tank i would just do regular 50% weekly wc like i would do with any other tank, you could probably even get by with every 2 weeks in that big a tank when they are that little with barely any nitrate build-up GOOD LUCK

Good luck with your festae!

Have you seen the movie 'Highlander'?

Well, Festae operate on the 'There can only be one' philosophy as they get bigger.

Mine got to 3inches and went beserk! I lost all except my bigger male, he chased and killed his 7 tankmates!!!

Waiting for them to grow and pair can be frustrating once they start the aggression.

They are a very beautiful fish when they growup, enjoy!

yeah i put this in the OPs other post but same thing happened with mine, i had them in a 20g long thinking this would be ok for .5in fish well by the time they were 1in (or close to it) only 2 were left and not long after only 1, and this tank is 30in long so def should have been logically big enough until they all got to at least 1in but NOOOO they def follow the Highlander's philosphy to the T!!! make sure you have plenty of hiding spots in the tank but since its 6ft you should be good until they get bigger

id grow them out a lilttle larger then 3 inches so you guarentee yourself the best colored ones. it would be quite difficult to tell at 3 inches which ones are going to color up nicer. maybe you could narrow it down to 10 of them and grow to 5 or 6 inches then make up your mind which ones you going to keep.
