id grow them out a lilttle larger then 3 inches so you guarentee yourself the best colored ones. it would be quite difficult to tell at 3 inches which ones are going to color up nicer. maybe you could narrow it down to 10 of them and grow to 5 or 6 inches then make up your mind which ones you going to keep.

I agree. Also they will not be paired off and sexing can be difficult at that size.Need to grow them out to at least 6".They are awesome when larger!

I feed mine HGH pellets, Bio Gold, brine and mysis shrimp, earthworms and flakes. I started with six 1"-1.5" juvies and I still have all six. The odd thing is that they are growing at different rates. I have one that has grown to over 4.5",four others at 3", and the last two at 2". They squabble a bit but no killing as of yet.

i would say a 125 would be good for the most part but the males do get fairly large so you may eventually need something a little wider but 125 would def be good for at least 2yrs if not more i think

I have my WC pair in a 125...males is about 11-12" female about 9. It feels a little small when he is chasing the snot out of her to breed. I would like to have them in a 180 just to give her a little more room to get around the 12" pots in the tank...but a 125 should last a long time.

I have been wanting some festae as well, but can't find any around me .... maybe I will get lucky and find some after my new tanks arrives

I have a small amount from my first batch that I will be selling soon...but I think there is enough people around me to buy them all up...my adults are sitting on another 600+ so once those grow I will sell them and I am planing to try to ship. I never have shipped but I know how to...

I've found that when growing out really aggressive fish, when they start beating the snot out of each other, put in some shiners or other "expendable" fish in with them. Fast, hardy fish make the best targets, especially if they are schooling targets. That way even the lowest rank fish still has fish to take the heat and it can get a chance to rest.

3 inches is still pretty small to judge a pair. I have to agree to cut your numbers in half then do some more cuts at 6 inches.
