I got me a severum!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This fish is probably about 4.5 inch. Will she/he change at all over time? Will it get the worming on the face and will the face get bluer? Will the body colour change at all do you think?

Thanks!

it'll prolly stay similar colors, if it has worming on the face it is male, if not its a female. if it is a male the worming will get more predominant and if its female the face will prolly get bluer.

Ok this is the first severum I have ever owned (you prolly guessed that lol) and I havea quick question. If this one is a female and for example I got a green severum male would they pair up and if they did would it be a problem, would the fry be classed as hybrid? other question is, I heard they are best off alone otherwise they get aggressive when spawning. How would two females get along?

woohoo!! I do hope so. Apparently he was "wild caught" and came from Peru but doesnt that mean his parents are wild caught?

He was being proper bullied by everything in the LFS tank, including two of his fellow severum tank mates. I chose him because I wanted a chilled out one that wasnt a bully and so far he has not had a go at anything, even at feeding time. It must have been such a relief for him when I put him in my nice quiet tank.

If the fish is wild caught, then it was caught in the wild. The parents are therefore also wild, but probably haven't actually been caught. Offspring of a wild caught pair in an aquarium are listed as F1.

hmmmm......she/he seems quite tame for a wild caught fish. Was eating out of my hand yesterday and only had it for 2 days!

here she is again - doing really well and most of her wounds have healed up too!
