I got my centre piece cichlid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i dont know mate. the tank he was in was marked "midas" and the next tank with remarkebly similar looking fish was marked "red devils". i would put my money on him being a midas x red devil. although he does look a little like barred midas juvies ive seen in pics but i think barred midas in a standard lfs is unlikely. i dont think he is a pure devil as his lips arent big enough when i compare it to pics ive seen. also when viewing him from above his snout isnt pointed like a devils should be (so ive read).

tbh i dont care if he is a cross breed, barred midas or full midas, i think any of those options are great as adults. i would guess he will peel into an unknown colour.

I would say by the looks of him hes a Midas. Prob a mix but like you say who cares? He will be fun to have! It would be very cool if he stays barred but in truth it doesn't matter.

I just put a Pike in with my Midas and at first I thought I might have a problem. The Pike is soo much faster than him! LOL You can see the frustration on his face cause he can't catch him!

lol, poor midas. yeah i dont care if he is a cross, im looking forward to watching him grow up. im hoping my pictus will be too fast for him, i say him but i really have no idea of sex. time will tell if he will allow them in his tank. i have enough hiding places for them in the wood and rocks for when he gets larger.

Nice pick up, but when i read the title i was hoping that it was something like H steindachneri. ;)

Hehe, H Steindachneri isnt an earth eater.
G Steindachneri is the red hump,
H is Herichthys, much rarer
