I have had honey, snakeskin, and dwarf flame gouramis with hatchets (cool fish) and never had a problem. Did have some marbled hatchets eaten by African butterfly fish though.

Howdy,

hatchets are nice fish . I don't anticipate any problems with gouramis. However, you need to cover your tank real well ... they're jumpers!

The only community type fish that don't like hatchets are African Butterflys. I am sure there are others, but Africans don't like other top dwellers.
