Yup Cons are great parents I have a pair in my Oscar tank and then hold back the Oscars with ease they actually just moved a new batch of wrigglers to a pit from the cave today.
Like stated the mother will often round up stray fry in her mouth to keep them in a tight pack nothing to be worried about, . Next time just get some foam/sponge and cut it to fit the filter intakes, this will stop the fry from getting sucked up, leave the parents with the fry and enjoy the show, the mother will tend to the fry and the father will roam the tank to keep out intruders. Once the fry start to free swim you can feed them crushed flake or pellets if you want but they will also eat anything the parents do not and graze on any algae they find in the tank so you can get away with not feeding the fry for some time.
A 10gal will get pretty cramped for a pair of cons but if they are small you can get away with it for awhile just watch the aggression, males tend to grow quicker since the females are constantly laing eggs and caring for the young, so he may start to cull the fry and beat on the female if he feels he is short on space.
Congrats on your first of many spawns, they breed like rabbits and the bigger they get the more fry they produce.
