I Had a Dream... About Fish!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
GH and KH where/are fine. when we run tests I run the whole kit and kaboodle.. imo its just lazyness when people don't when their perameters aren't perfect... like your saying.. different levels can effect others. But I didn't know that about Potassium Carbonate... don't want to mess with the KH/GH anyways as some of the fish are very sensitive to those shifts so I check them along with the usual. Good to know.

and idk about the Kh being >200 I have a good size spiney eel raised in 200< who's lol bigger then she should be. But I could def see it effecting blackwater species ect. never heard that about KH before. I know excessive TDS levels do bad things, but not KH itself.

I've read from multiple sources that a higher KH means more oxygen dissolved in the water, which means that the fish spend less energy metabolizing oxygen, which means that energy is instead directed to growth.

Also note that bacteria use KH during the nitrogen cycle. Every time they eat ammonia or nitrites, they also eat KH.

By the way, I was looking at your album, how on Earth did you get 3 Fire Eels to live in peace?! Did they grow out of that or are they grown and still in the same tank?
