Another strategy to save your fry is to strip your females after a couple days holding. That will save your fry for sure. That's what I do and I get fry all the time. :) My brother made two egg tumblers out of scratch and they work just as good :D. I just think that you should really do that and get an egg tumbler as a back up plan since you never know what's going to happen.

Thing is I am new to this breeding thing...How do you strip the female?

I hope getting rid of the lab will make my male act normal again. I am just worried as he is not chasing the girls like he was and isn't eating like he used to...and hanging in the back corner. I don't want to lose him. I haven't actually seen anyone pick on him but I thought maybe with the lab breeding....

No other tanks for the Lab?

I have smaller tanks I am going to use for fry tanks. I was already going to trade some fish tomorrow so I will just scoop up the lab and take him in as well.

your flameback is likely pouting or bullied till the fish is now hiding out in the corner. when you remove the lab things should get back to normal in a day or two. I would maybe move around the rocks or decor in the tank after you move out the lab and that might help the flameback to move out of his corner too.

Great advice. I highly agree. :)

I would cull it, since it would be a problem. Unless he grew it out just for the enjoyment, I see no problem with it, as long as Bre is just reponsible.

I would like to see what that looked like when they are bigger, it should be an interesting fish. If anything you can always use them as feeders!

Well, she's in the big tank holding right now. Maybe, if she is still holding after a week or so I'll move her just to see what the fry looks like...Then my Dat could eat them. Someone also said they didn't think the eggs would even really be fertilized...thought the 2 fish were probably not closely enough related. Well see.

The eggs could be fertile. There was a guy here who bred a fryeri with a nyererei. LOL. My fry are losing their egg sacs now and I am going to be moving them to my 10 gallon soon. :D
