Didn't I talk you into a UV? Now you cannot live without one in this hobby.:D I spend too much money on fish to take a risk w/o a UV.
You and NC_nutcase sure did. Now I even got a 18 watt turbo twist on a 55 and two green machines on my 29 hospital and 40 breeder Q tank so about half my tanks have them. I also use them for the clarity. All around a very good investment.:headbang2

I can't, no more space for the tank. Thats why i am getting a uv. Any immediate treatments?

Yes UV is BEST long term solution. For immediate treatment, kill your lights, reduce your feedings and cover the tank with a blanket 24/7 for a few days. The total darkness will kill off the green water even without UV. I have done this in the past and it works great. Depending on the size of your tank in about 3-4 days the water will completely clear up.

UV it is! i am getting one ASAP, i actually had bought one on ebay but the seller crapped out on me 8). Thanks guys and gals

a diatom filter like a vortex will clear up the green water overnight.

but it won't eliminate whatever is causing the problem (tank too close to a window etc) so it will come back..

Which would be better, 25 micron filter or a diatom?

the diatom can filter down as low as 1 micron as it clogs. it uses a fine powder that is pushed against a pad that the water flows through. it will clear up green water very quickly. I have used it for this purpose before. but they run around $160 though.

they are good for water polishing, but not good for anything else.

WOW! 1 micron! thats some serious filtering. But for now i will go with 25 micron pad since its only $10 :D
