I HATE college

Hang in there. I was in and out of school for years and it took me forever until i got an online degree. Youll be amazed how much of a difference being able to say you have a degree makes. I regret not having finished school sooner. Like alot of things in life, you will find that just sucking it up and getting it done will pay dividends in the end.
I hated college for the most part, especially when youre taking the general ed classes that youre not interested in. The key for me was majoring in something I enjoyed instead of what everyone said would get me a great job. Im fortunate in that I love what I do and I dont need the degree but im also looking for work for when I leave the Marine Corps soon and I am so glad I got the lame degree LOL.

This will not be the first unpleasant thing you have to do in life to improve your situation. The sooner you get it done the better off youll be. Take it from the guy that waited til he was 38 :)

I hated it too, I really did. I just stuck with it in the end. I've had a year out of it now, and honestly I already feel like I could go back and do a masters of phd or something. Like you said, its just a burnout doing it for basically as long as you can remember. Having "important" tests shoved down you every year for the past 7 or 8 years grinds on you. On the plus now its your choice and you can choose. Maybe take a year out have a break. Try and get some work or try and do some travelling. I knew lots of people that decided to go back to college after 2, 3 or even 5 or more years out. You can always choose your subject matter... only do a course you are interested in or your wasting your time.

I am in school now, it took me 3 years to get through community college with an AA degree. Now I am at USF and will start on year 4 this fall. I am SICK of school and classes that I HATE esp. b/c they dont even go with the degree you are going with. It sucks. I have had very few classes that I have actually enjoyed, sad to say because I usually look forward to a lot of my classes only to be dissapointed by the professor. I am still here though and still going because I can't get any jobs I want with out that degree and experience. The hands on experience (internships) will probably end up being the most useful thing I do and it will be on my free time and not school related. I figured I made it this far so I will get it done and I need to get it done. I would rather not be doing this when I am older and have even less time then I do now. School is not for everyone and unless you are really lucky with the job you get you will end up needing that degree so its better to just get it done now. Maybe an idea for you would be to take a break for a semester and then go back again.

i now were you can get a job with out a college education
BK, MCDONALD, WENDYS ETC... ENDLESS OPORTUNITIES
AND AFTER 15 YEARS YOU CAN BE MANAGER AND GET $15 WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO

Get out the here...College years were the best years of MY LIFE! While I did study alot, I also partied ALLOOOTTT!

-3AM drunken calls to the Papa John's (food taste x10 better while drunk)
-Numerous parties
-Numerous girls
-up at 2pm, only to eat some cereal and pour yourself a cocktail while watching college football

Now, 3 years after graduation...no more of that!!! Up at 7am, off work at 6-7pm, bed by 10pm. Fridays/weekends are usually time to catch up on sleep...

Good times good times...

Mercury, no one that is working a full time job while going to school is up partying all night.

It sounds like you should take a break, the social aspect of going to college shouldn't be affecting you. Who cares what others think, its your long term goals and ideas of what you want to do that should dictate how you live.

I worked fri/sat/sun while in college, so i can't totally relate but you are def missing out on the experience. Do you live on campus? Big school? Community college? I could see commuting and having a full time job watering down the good aspects of being in college.

Maybe take a short break but in the end in order to advance you have to be either a self starter with some marketable skill or you need the papers. The jobs you get with the degree (depending on what degree) are more fun, flexible, pay better. 4 years of suck is much better then retiring after a life time of it to sis on social security (assuming we still have that).

SemperFish: You served in the Marines that's a little different then working a low paying civy job then going back to school in your 30s. Having gotten my degrees at the "proper time" I very much regret not ignoring my parents and enlisting. Military srevice in most companies gives you a leg up, working at Mc Donald's for 10 years won't.
