If there has been catalyst added to the resin - there is NO way it is coming off of your clothes, unless you wait till it hardens and then cut it off -lol-

I think Chomper is trying to say the detergent is used to get resin off your hands by rubbing it in your hands together - the resin will stick to the detergent powder, and group into small balls which fall on the floor, and then do not stick to anything, as they have the coat of detergent on them =) You could really just use sand/dirt or something to acheive the same results =)

Thinners is best to get rid of sticky fibreglass resin if possible to use it - i know as i used to use it to wash my hands with hehehe - be careful if you have sensitive skin, as it may give you a rash... i had zero problems with it tho...

But yes - the resin is very sticky stuff! I'm not quite sure what you're trying to do here, but the only way to keep it clean is if you use masking tape over the sections you DONT want the resin on, such as porous matertials like wood (will stain it) etc - any non porous surfaces like glass or something, it will come straight off with thinners - don't let it sit for too long tho - the longer it's there - the harder it is to get off =)

I was trying to find a way to get rid of the smell mostly. I can not use harsh soaps or anything that is hard on the skin. I know all about the detergent but can not use it.

Acetone is extremely flamable. Several people have died using it. There was a guy in Phoenix that was killed while working in a fiberglass swimming pool when it caught fire. Witnesses said the flames shot thirty feet in the air.

Use laytex dishwashing gloves. They will be good for only one use, if that. Have several pairs on hand so that you can change them out when you need to.

Yes. Most of us use cheap disposable surgical gloves. They come in boxes of 100pr usually.

The acetone can be set in a coffee can nearby or in a high grade plastic spray bottle. It's great for dipping rags and general cleanup as well as thinning the resin abit. DO NOT USE IT NEAR ANY FLAME. It burns like alcohol but treat it like you would gasoline. It evaporates really fast so keep it covered.

ALWAYS wear a respirator - especially when using polyester resins. You're not only breathing in the resin fumes but the MEKP used to kick it off. Add the acetone in there and your immediate environment is pretty heavy. Ventilate by putting a fan in a window or door and draw the fumes away.

Citrus based hand cleaners - such as GOJO - work pretty well in getting still gooey resins and paints off the skin. At least for me they do.

Take your time, ask around. You'll figure it out. Have fun.
