im sorry man. i use to have a pacu i loved him. they have awesome personalities but i felt bad bc he was always ramming the glass (in a 55gal) i wanted to set him free he just seemed miserable. plus he kept eating any other fish i put in with him.. so i took him to my moms & he lives in her 75 gal now.
i guess he rammed her thermometer last weekend and broke it (luckily not the part with mercury in it)
sorry to hear about the loss. i had a similar thing happen to me. i lost so many fish. the lesson i learned was to have two things moving water around in your tank always so that if for some reason there is a malfunction in one you still have the other to keep things oxygenated. i run and HOB and power head in every tank. just my idea to keep things safer.
Sorry you lost your fish, but unless you have hundreds of gallons worth of tank, you have no business keeping pacu & red tails. Maybe your fish store gave you crappy advice, who knows.....
Oh, for the record, you can get cool fish like silver dollars and other cats that are just as nice, but dont require so much water. Good luck w/ your next tank.
haha damn no wonder he wont answer...i wouldnt either knowing yall were just waitin on a response so he can get flammed....sorry for hte loss man, guess we all live and learn
oh wow! im so sorry for your loss-ive heard pacus are great fish to keep, i just think they do not make good tank fish unless you have 300 gallons or more for it.. i dont think fishstores should sell those poor things..
best of luck in finding a replacement! just remember that losing fish is the worst part of this hobby, but it happens to us all...
