Well, with such a huge tank coming soon, I've had to seriously think things through. The way I see it, I have two realistic options. On one hand, I could put the 180g in my upstairs living room and be done with it, and ultimately, limiting anything else related to the hobby. I'm kind of trying to avoid putting it in my living room because a huge tank will take up a lot of space. Honestly, I think such a huge tank will look awkward in my living room. Now, here lies my dilemma. I've got a nice sized basement that has a TON of potential, but is a mess right now. There is sooooo much CRAP down there that it is going to take some time to clean up. However, with a little time and effort, I could convert it into an office/fish room/chill spot for me and my friends. It's got a bar, a bathroom, and some wide open spaces-perfect. However, another hurdle-there is no heat down there. In the winter, it gets cold. I'm probably going to need to load up on heaters right? I can't recall exactly how cold, but I would imagine around the 50* mark. A problem? Anyway, below I've got some pics so you guys can visualize this with me.

the view from the stairs. You can really see the mess here. The plan with this area is to move everything and put a computer desk right in the middle.

The safe and bear are going to be moved and a 180g is going here. Pretty self explanitory.

There is a bar under there, trust me. I want to clean that **** up and squeeze a 75g/90g planted discus tank with a DIY stand with room for some smaller tanks underneath.

I'm thinking of ditching the doors, cleaning up the shelves, and throw another TV in there. The shelves do tempt me though. If I do get discus and they start breeding, I could line up a bunch of 20g's in there.

What do you guys think? So my fish room only consists of a few tanks, but that's fine with me. Does this look feasible? I'm going to get measurements tomorrow and start playing around with designs.

I think it would be aight. pretty cool to have a chill area and have your tanks around.

Go for it. once the tanks are set you can check the lighting effects and work from there.

Go for it. Just make sure you have adequate heating or plans on heating up the room if youre going to setup mulitple tanks.

Screw it, bad idea bro!! Jk...I think it would be pimpin!! BTW....that bear is tight...lol...have someone sleepin over and move it next to their bed...then when they wake up the first thing they see is that bear starin at them...oh man you'd better have a camcorder or at least a camera for that classic moment! :P

That's the thing. How much heating am I looking at? How many watts per gallon is adequate with cooler temps? I'm going to talk this through with my dad and see what he thinks. Im kind of hoping that he'll agree to heat up the basement during the winter-62* is plenty and comfortable. I definetly want to make this work though. I can have my monsters in one corner and the discus in the other-does life get any better?

I want the Browning safe. Keep the bear, I'll get my own. I've lived in NJ, and I know you can do it!. Heat the whole room! It's probably surrounded by dirt... I don't know; so insulate it! It might be cheaper to keep a whole basement heated to 80* than it is to heat each tank separately. Less wiring, too. What a special ground level spot to put large tanks in. You're lucky.
If I were'nt so drunk right now I'd take the bar too.
