I hate my water

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I live on the outskirts of town and I have a well that produces perfect water right out of my tap. My girlfriend on the other hand lives in the city and her water is horrible. Nitrates at 20ppm straight out the tap.....yummy.

I went to the local farm supply and bought a food grade 55 gallon plastic drum($25) and I haul water to her house to do water changes.

Sounds like a pain......It Is!!!! But its better than shortening the lifespan of your fish, or worse case scenario........killing them with crappy water quality.

If theres any way you could figure out a deal with someone that has well water and a truck, you could do the same.

move is complete... and all the fish made it. altho i did lose my last cr. gaucho before the move. sigh.

so now im left with only my two female notophthalmus. i need to test the water tonight, but i think its alot softer and if it is im going to have a resurgence of pikes.

ive thought about the RO water but those units are damn expensive. i asked about one last time i was in the store and i heard $300 for the small unit.

RO can be expensive, but not horribly bad, and makes up for it. :)

Bummer about the Cren. gaucho. . . :(

Resurgancies are always awesome!! Come back with a bang eh? Even if the water is still fairly hard, still come back with a bang!!! Anything is better than your last place eh?! :)

my water has 5ppm ammonia, i add alot of prime and let my bio filter deal with it. it brings it to 0 in a day.
