yeap same here

work at a grocery store :)

at least in there the ingnorant wont kill what you love, but instead eat what you love and thats FOOD!

I hate "helping" customers at the fish store, most have no concern for the long term welfare of the fish. I probably send 25 fish to their death a week.

You have to be 18.

Overqualified = Potential Fish know-it-all that would attempt to break the company rules, based on fish mythology or beliefs, at every chance because they are self-proclaimed fish experts.. Also, probably expects to get paid alot for their vast internet fish knowledge, a good majority of which could be false.

Not saying this is you.. but this could be why..

I work at a petco, and they will take anyone they can get. A phd biologist could get a job there and they would still make the person do non-fish duties. Its how a store like that works.

But ditto on having to be 18...

lol, you will defer too many people from buying fish they shouldn't have anyways, like oscars in 10g

That's what I think also. If you know too much about fish, you might tell the truth and discourage potential customers. Probably they are told to sell any fish and tell the customers that the fish can live in a 10 gallon tank.

:tugsupboots: ;)

Don't you have to be 18 to work at PetSmart? Or have a work permit if you're under 18?

its 18 to work in the distribution center, 16 in the retail stores

Over qualified, what does that mean?!

Well most (not all) but most of the ones by me, it means that you know better than to recommend two goldfish for a 5gallon tank, and that you really don't need a filter, but an air stone, and incadescent light will be fine for them. anyone who already knows about water parameters or can tell you the difference between more than a few types of goldfish or that theres more than one type of tetra would be qualified as over qualified..

I wouldn't sweat it. if your retired or only want a part time job during school it would be cool, but every shop I know of, and everyone I know that works at them or has. hasn't made squat for money. they are all cheap, and you'd make better money elsewhere
