just because I live in "plano"(known for having snoby rich) people living in it doesn't. make me rich I'm on a fixed income. I get sumpmental income.
so I was hoping we would work out a deal, or come down on the price some.
the reason I was calling him rude is because at first he didn't tell me what city he was in,and wouldn't tell me a price,or send me photos.

Maybe you should pick up some books on the art of negotiating.
If you wanted to work out a deal and get photos you should simply ask for photos and state the price you are willing to pay. End of story. If the seller is unwilling to come down to your price, there is no deal. No point in beating a dead horse.

Whilst i might agree that the language used in the emails was not conducive to a succesful negotiation, i can fully understand from reading them why you wanted pictures and an explination of the price. The fish might have been $200 for a reason, i.e. they're a rare type or more colourful than normal. Pictures and an explination would have helped you determine this, then if they weren't, go to the breeder.

not rude IMO... why question the man when you can go to a breeder and get the same for 50$... you were rude in this IMO... if you didnt like the price and can get them for cheaper than do that... let him sell to somebody who wants to pay that kind of money

:D I hate rude people, too! People who told me that he can get bigger and better fish than mine at cheaper price, or people who told me how bad my fish, when they want to negotiate price. :D Look at my sig! Why can he just tell me what price he wants to pay and we'll go from there? :screwy::grinno:

No seller should have to explain their price...if you can't affprd them, then dont buy them. Especially if you can get them for less them half the price.

so when you go buy a car you dont try your luck and get a full tank of gas and other optional extras for free, try to get a couple of hundred quid knocked off the price or give the dealer motivation by telling him you can get it cheaper a couple of miles down the road to get the price lowered?
roughly the same principle here just different sums of money.

the guy only wanted to know why the breeders fish were so expensive. if the guy was genuine he should have given a brief explanation why they were priced at $200 and he may have gotton a $1000 sale for the sake of of an email saying "they priced at $200 because........" rather than throwing emails back and forward and using avoidance like politicians do.

the wording used could have been better by the OP but still the guy could have just answered the question.

From the sellers point of veiw...NO not the same principle. If the seller is selling Mercedes and the buyer is telling him about Subarus down the block for a quarter of the price.

The OPs comments showed the seller that he had no real intention of paying anything near the asking price.

i completely understand what your saying but the guy didnt explain that it was a "mercedes" he was selling, it had the price tag but over email it could have been a "skoda", he gave no explaination as to why they were so expensive.
i completely agree that the OP could have worded things a lot better than he did.

Thank you! This comment took the words right out of my mouth!

I would have politely asked for a picture...if he refused, then i would have walked. If a potential buyer would have emailed me with that attitude...I would have never given him the time of day. He should be lucky he even got a response with that approach.
