Tacoma Wa.
I have a 110 that has been up and running for 3 years. I have 90 that has been running for 3 months. Prior to the 90 I had a 55. The 55 had been running for 2 years. While running I had a male green terror jump. I replaced him with a green terror I picked up in portland. In august my wife bought me a 90. I took all the fish from my 55 and put them in my 110 and swaped the tanks a used the old filter with the new filter and the old substrate with some new substrate and the old water with some new water and set up my tank. Once my 90 got to the same temp and readings as my 55 and 110 I put the fish in the 90. Great right easy, everything went as planned but that dang green terror I picked up still was not eating. I have only seen it eat 2 times in 2 months. Then came some white poop from him. Then my dempsy and mota in the 110 started to get a sunken belly. My mota dosent eat much anymore either. Then one of my red terrors in my 90 started to poop white as well. This poop is not like the green terrors its not stringy its lumpy and like the stringy kind stays attached for a long time. This is the first time I have dealt with any disease. I pulled out those "infected and treated with jungle parasite clear. Followed the directions and bam nothing. Now I have a few other fish showing symptoms. There are approx. 20 fish in these two systems and I don't know what to do. I curently have a 20 long, 20 standerd and 25 tall I can use as hospital tanks. I really don't want to treat 200 gallons but I will if I have to. Any one with any advice please help me. I don't want to lose any of my fish.

did you QT? hope so. many including myself made this mistake.

what fish did you have in each tank prior to the trf?
sorry, I couldn't follow/understand your trf of old new filter/substrate/water movements. can you clarify for us? not sure if there will be a cycling problem

Once my 90 got to the same temp and readings as my 55 and 110 I put the fish in the 90.
what readings were the same? can u give us water parameters (what test kit are u using? many strongly recommend API master test kit.

too late for hospital tanks, whole tank needs to be treated. many will suggest do a big w/c like 75-80% (Prime the water also), then do frequent w/c (say 7days of 50%). if jungle didn't work which has 2 main ingredients - go to www.kensfish.com & look over all his meds descriptions & see if you can pin it down further. I was going to suggest prazipro but jungle has the same ingredient. but worth a try. raise the temps also but w/c asap.

I am just treating my discus tank cuz I saw one with white poop & not eating also, using prazipro. will see how that goes.

good luck

No I did qt I have only ever done that with saltwater fish because I have never delt with any disease in 13 years of fish keeping. I don't know what trf is. As for the cycle I took everything from the old 55 and stuck it on the 90 water, filter and substrate. Then I added some noew substrate to give me the right amount about 2 inches deep. And I added enough new water to top off the 90. Then I put a fresh new filter on the 90 with the old one for a 3 weeks and the removed it. I had a small spike(mini cycle of nitrites then nitrated they went away in 3 days and my perameters were back to 0 ammonia, 0 nitirites, and less then 10 ppm nitrates so I put a few fish every two days in until my tank was stocked. During this time I monitered vigorously and there was no change in water perameters. I use a api master kit. My ph is 7 maybee 7.2. By the same I mean its the same as every tank in my house eccept my s/w. I will check out that link. And I just did a 50 percent w/c on Friday so I will give it a few days and do a bigger one.was that all the info you needed? Thanks for reading and trying to follow my frantic description.

I meant i did not qt.

I just got home from work. One of my fish died today. It was a juvi green terror. Should I try the medicated food? What brand should I get?

Bump

Go with praziquantel treatment. It will not kill your beneficial bacteria responsible for the nitrogen cycle process but it is lethal to internal parasites. Do add garlic on its diet to push out the internal paasites of the fish's digestive system. Please keep us updated.:)

Will do. Here's a little update I read in a lot of diffrent places thqat increasing the temp will help a lot so I went from 79 in both tanks to 81 in both tanks the night before last. My jack dempsey and mota are both more active, eating more and there sunkin stomachs went away. There stomachs was the only sighn I had from any of the fish in the 110. I will get some medicated food and seed it just in case still. In the 90 the green terror perked up and is still not eating and the red terrors are more active but there still pooing white. Also the my male green terror and both red terrors are still showing the sunkin stomach. Once again I will feed the medicated food and see what happens. As far as garlic goes how does that work?

try raising the temp by three degrees or so and remove the infected is the way to go.this way the infected will be together and the non infected will be fine!

Three more degrees? And there are only 3 that I am sure are infected and two that I suspect. So should I qt the 5 fish in smaller tanks and then treat them? Or should I assume tht both tanks are infected and treat both systems? 3 are definatly infected from the 90 and I suspect 2 are from the 110 the ones in the 110 are looking and acting much better just by me raising the temp. The other three are too but are still showing signs of infection. I still don't know exactly what to do I will do 50 percent w/c on fri and probably start both tanks on a medicated food. Should that suffice? If someone with experiance in this particular area (treating internal parasites) gives me some step by step instructions I will follow them. I just need something concrete before I start so I don't try 20 diffrent things and stress my fish to death. Thank you for reading and hopefully responding.
